Tailored Cyclone Advisory/Warning Service

The Bureau is a world leader in understanding tropical cyclone behaviour and the SSU provides access to that expertise. You can make sure that the tropical cyclone management strategy operates on the latest and best advice available.

  • Daily tropical cyclone advisories outline the "potential" for cyclone development.
  • Detailed site specific warnings are issued every three to six hours during events.
  • Detailed briefing by our experts.
  • Dedicated web site for clients is set up which includes a host of additional weather information, plus interim warning updates and high resolution satellite images.

Other Services

The Bureau uses state of the art third generation wave model (WAM) to assist in forecasting seas and swells in the Australian region. The model is updated twice daily.

Direct model output can be derived from the WAM model for specific locations and including spectral format.
