provide detailed forecast information to minimise its impact on industry
operations, and so increase efficiency, competitiveness and return
on investment.
The CWS provides specifically tailored forecast services to support operations
and strategic planning in weather-sensitive industries such as mining
(both onshore and offshore), energy production, construction, tourism,
agriculture, and shipping.
CWS uses the Bureau of Meteorology's best numerical weather
prediction models and observational data, with experienced staff adept at extracting the right
information from the wide array of available data.

Using state-of-art computer modelling to forecast the weather elements
